Interviews can be one of the more stressful things you have to do. It’s hard to decipher which advice to follow. Giving a confident interview requires skill that is learnable.

5 tips to help you give a confident interview

  • Know your company, and don’t over-prepare. Know the company’s background, products and services.
  • Be cool. Being called for an interview is a step further, and it simply means that they are interested in you.
  • Listen and Talk. It is a two way street. It would be wise to pay attention to the discussion and questions. Learn to talk back also, in an appropriate manner.
  • The main thing about an interview is selling yourself to the person interviewing you. Try to point out your strengths and expertise. Cite them some concrete examples.
  • Just enjoy the whole process. Being too uptight scares off opportunities. Understand that if you follow these things there’s nothing much to do but sit back and relax afterwards.

Finally always be kind enough to send the interviewer, a thank you note. An interview is not a personal judgment on your capabilities. It isn’t the end of the world either. So just enjoy it and never fail to bring out the best in you.
