When your interviewer asks an improper question

(Refer to this post for examples of improper questions)
If you are asked an inappropriate or illegal question, you have to make a choice about how to respond. In many cases, the best thing to do when you encounter an inappropriate question is to direct the conversation towards a discussion of your abilities as they relate to the position.

For example, if you are asked, “who will take care of your children when you need to take a late shift?” You can sidestep the question and say, “the job ad stated that this job required working late shifts 25% of the time, and I am fully available to do this”.
